Executive profile

I work where durable systems meet relentless change.

Portrait of Simon Coter
Simon CoterTechnology executive · Product leader · Builder

For more than two decades, I have helped shape technologies at the foundation of enterprise computing—and the teams, partnerships and product strategies behind them.

At Oracle, I lead product management, engineering and alliances across a broad infrastructure portfolio that includes Oracle SPARC Servers, Oracle Solaris, Oracle ZFS Storage Appliance, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Secure Desktops, Oracle Linux, Oracle Virtualization and Oracle Cloud Native Environment. My role connects long-term product direction with the realities of engineering execution, customer adoption and market evolution.

I work across organizational boundaries to turn complex technology into clear portfolio choices: listening to customers, identifying durable market needs, aligning roadmaps and investment priorities, and building accountable teams able to deliver at enterprise scale. That work often means balancing innovation with the continuity, reliability and supportability expected from mission-critical platforms.

My perspective is grounded in hands-on technical experience. Before moving into product and organizational leadership, I worked directly with customers on architecture definition, sizing, implementation, project delivery, best practices and technical references. That foundation still shapes how I evaluate products: from the operational detail upward, and from business outcomes back to the engineering decisions required to achieve them.

Open source and community participation are an essential part of that approach. Through Linux and virtualization communities, technology alliances, public speaking and writing, I have learned that credible leadership is built through contribution, transparency and sustained dialogue—not simply through ownership of a roadmap.

Today, I am also focused on the practical application of AI across product and engineering organizations: accelerating insight, strengthening decision-making, improving execution loops and enabling new ways of building and operating technology—without compromising technical rigor, accountability or trust.

I am at my best when the challenge is complex, the technology matters, and success requires alignment across customers, engineering, product, sales, partners and communities.

Current portfolio scope

Across the full enterprise stack

AI leadership

From intelligent assistance to governed action.

The next platform shift is not simply about adding a model. It is about redesigning how products, engineering organizations and enterprise workflows turn context into trusted outcomes.

Agentic engineering

Moving beyond copilots toward coordinated agents that reason, use tools, retain context and work within human-defined boundaries.

Orchestration · Tool use · Memory · Human-in-the-loop

Enterprise knowledge

Grounding AI in trusted organizational knowledge through retrieval, vector search and governed access to structured and unstructured data.

RAG · Vector search · Data context · Grounding

Open AI infrastructure

Combining Linux, containers, Kubernetes, accelerators and compatible serving APIs to create portable foundations for training and inference.

Linux · Kubernetes · GPUs · Model serving

Trust by design

Treating evaluation, security, observability, auditability and policy controls as production architecture—not as an afterthought.

Evals · Guardrails · Observability · Governance
My AI operating principle

Experiment quickly. Measure rigorously. Govern proportionately. Scale only what creates verifiable value.
